Hunter Crest
Clan Badge/Crest

Our shared Clan Hunter heritage stretches back to the 12th century and the reign of King David I of Scotland.  Designated Royal huntsmen the Hunters were considered expert in their trade and as hereditary keepers of the Royal forests were tasked to not only provide meat and game for the Royal household but fertile hunting grounds for the Kings and nobility of Scotland.

The Hunter ancestral home of Hunterston, or Hunter’s Toune as it was known when the land was granted by King David I is still under the care of the Hunters today.  Hunterston Castle has been the clan seat of the Hunters for hundreds of years and still welcomes Hunters from around the globe to share in their rich heritage and history.
